Adopt a bulb
Another option to help the valuable work of the Hortus Bulborum is to adopt a certain tulip hybrid (or daffodil or hyacinth). Adopting a bulb on the Hortus Bulborum costs 70 euro per annum (with a minimum of three years). Life time adoption is also possible. Many people have answered the appeal to become an adoptive ‘parent’ of a specific heirloom bulb; both private persons as well as companies. New ‘adoptive parents’ were registered in 2004 for amongst others the tulips ‘Clusiana’ (1803), ‘Insulinde (1916) and ‘Keukenhof’ (1952). The total number of adopted bulbs at the Hortus Bulborum exceeds now sixty. And there are still plenty to choose from. With pride we love to put your personal red ‘adoptive parent’ shield next to the tulip bed or another bulb with your personal or the company’s name and city you come from for the time you ‘adopt’ this bulb. Note that legendary tulips like ‘Duc van Tol Red and Yellow’ (1595) and ‘Zomerschoon’ (1620), have already been adopted for many, many years. Adoptive parents also have free access to the garden with two persons during the opening season.
